Dear fellow citizens,
Last night really, well, sucked for those of us on the progressive left. There’s no other description, I think, that even comes close.
For those on the conservative right, I suspect the word “relief” was on center stage at the closing buzzer. Their guy went toe to toe with the President of the United States. Bravo. After 6 weeks of self-mutilation you all deserve to have a mark in the win column.
But don’t get too carried away. Progressives have learned how to say the “L” word and are using it with a frequency that grows each time Mr. Romney speaks. So the question was why didn’t the Prez go ahead and point out the Romney lies when they took place? Trying to be “presidential” I suppose.
Perhaps at the next debate the Prez can bring a prop with him like a buzzer. He could give it a zap each time Romney told a lie. Romney’s head would explode, of course, and whatever poor fool was roped into moderating would fall over in convulsions.
But the Union would continue. The sun would come up the next morning. People will still be who they were the day before. And I still won’t have enough money to retire on.
Just like it happened today.
